Shoe Carnival Steps into Wisconsin with Rogan’s Shoes Acquisition

A pairing made in Wisconsin over 50 years ago is undergoing a change. The owners of Rogan’s Shoes, founded in Racine in 1971, have reached a deal that will have them sold to an Indiana based shoe company.

Shoe Carnival will acquire Rogan’s Shoes in a deal worth $45 million. Rogan’s Shoes specializes in work and family footwear, with 28 store locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. Jack Rogan founded his eponymous shoe store in 1971, growing it into a regional player in the shoe selling marketplace. The headquarters are currently run out of a location on Ohio Street in Racine. Shoe Carnival is based in Evansville, Indiana.

By acquiring Rogan’s Shoes, Shoe Carnival solidifies a presence in Wisconsin and establishes a base in Minnesota. The integration of Rogan’s Shoes into Shoe Carnival’s operation, will likely lead to the Rogans’s stores becoming branded ‘Shoe Station’. Shoe Carnival says they have an 18-month plan for the transition. The acquisition brings Shoe Carnival’s store count to 429, putting them on track to achieve their goal of operating over 500 stores by 2028.

In a statement, executives from both Shoe Carnival and Rogan’s Shoes have expressed their excitement about the acquisition. Mark Worden, the president and CEO of Shoe Carnival, praised Rogan’s Shoes for their trusted brand and market leadership. Pat Rogan, the CEO of Rogan’s Shoes, is sharing the same sentiment, highlighting the shared focus on customers and employees and the potential for growth, efficiency, and profitability resulting from the acquisition.
