Mieden also reported, the aquatic center is fully staffed with the most lifeguards they’ve had since the aquatic center initially opened.
In other parks and rec news, there was a recent bus trip to Diamond Joe Casino, 40 people participated, there will be another trip in July. The community center is heavily booked, with graduations and summer activities, and there will be a pickle ball tournament during Thunder Fest this year.
Discussion was had on the cost and time involved with mowing and string trimming the cemetery – budget for mowing is $46,000 for the year.
Alderperson Chris Jarvis suggested the issue of dissolution of the Park Board should be sent to the city council for reconsideration. Jarvis stated everyone involved in public works has a lot to do, and that having more people involved may be beneficial until things are in a better place.
