OMHS board met recently

The OMHS board meeting held last evening was well attended by both members and the community at large. During the meeting, the Board of Directors presented changes that had already been implemented with the assistance of their attorney and business coach, both of whom were in attendance. Attendees were not permitted to ask questions during the meeting and were limited to making brief statements. The board instead requested that questions be emailed to them at OMHS2026AM @gmail.com, continuing the concern for lack of transparency. Many attendees commented afterward that they felt confused and disappointed that questions would not be answered at the annual meeting.

The board also indicated that no vote would take place at the meeting, despite the newly adopted bylaws stating that the election of board members by the membership is to occur at the annual meeting.

No report was given regarding the shelter, which is the largest program operated by OMHS. Prior to the meeting, the shelter manager was informed by the board that there would be no annual shelter report presented by the shelter manager at this year’s meeting as there had been at every annual meeting since the organization’s inception.
Questions remain within the membership and broader community regarding why these changes were made, how the board is funding its legal counsel and business coach, and why the board has chosen not to allow the election of new directors at this time.
