Richland County Executive and Finance Standing Committee met to discuss several items
The Richland County Executive and Finance Standing Committee met yesterday to discuss several items for possible recommendation to the county board.
The committee recommended for approval a change in staffing structure at the Symons Recreation Complex. Currently, Symons has a Director and an Assistant Director, the Assistant Director reports to the Director, who reports to the County Administrator. The proposed change would replace those two positions with a Director of Development and a Director of Operations, these positions would be on the same level, both reporting to the administrator.
One key function of the Director of Development would be grant writing with a focus on reducing dependence on tax payer subsidies going forward.
Five candidates for County Clerk were interviewed, two were recommended to the County Board for consideration.
Discussion was had on procurement of ambulance service, beginning with the 2027 year. The committee is recommending to the Board to authorize a levy increase to support EMS services, with dollars being distributed using equalized value in a fair and equitable way, beginning in 2027.
The committee is also recommending adding cameras to vehicles in the highway department, with the possibility of adding cameras to more county owned vehicles next year.
No action was taken after the committee was shown details of the capital improvement plan.
