
The season came to an end for the Richland Center boys basketball team, 65-52, at Lancaster in the first round of the WIAA tournament.
The Hornets led nearly for nearly 33 of the 36 minute game. The lead grew to 12 in the first half and Richland Center was up 35-28 at halftime. The advantage began to dwindle late in the game with the Arrows finally taking the lead for good with just over 3 minutes left.
As a number 13 seed the Hornets bid for an upset ran out of gas. Lancaster went on a 12-0 run in the last 3 minutes to log the win. The 4th seed Arrows advanced in the tournament and will play Friday at home against New Glarus.Sophmore Connor Stoltz came off the bench to score 14 points including 4 three pointers for the Hornets. Brady Dosch had 12 points. High scoring Junior Jayden Schoepp was held to 8 points, while Abe Bosworth and Keaky Heisz each totaled 6, and Liam Fingerson scored 4 points. The team was 3 for 8 from the line.Lancaster Senior Zach Hermsen had 23 points, while Dayne Kaufman and Taylor Williams each had 14.
The Arrows had 7 three pointers and they shot 6 for 8 from the line. The Arrows are now 16-9 for the season.Following the 65-52 loss, Richland Center end the season at 7-17. Seniors that saw their high school basketball careers end on Tuesday night were Abe Bosworth, Brady Dosch, Grayson Clements, Cutler Palmer, Liam Fingerson, and Ray Ferguson.
