Richland School District Board is presented audit report
The Audit Report from Johnson Block & Company was presented to the Richland School District Board of Education at last night’s (Tuesday) meeting.
The scope of the audit included all funds and activities of the district. The most significant revenue from local sources is property taxes totaling $10.03 million. Property tax revenue is controlled by state revenue limits. The most significant revenue from state sources is equalization aid totaling $11.4 million.
Equalization aid is an averaging process of enrollment over the last three years and is determined by a formula authorized by State Statute. Approximately 39% of the district’s governmental fund revenues come from this source. The equalized valuation of the district as certified by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue is $1.1 billion. Total general obligation debt outstanding as of June 30, 2025, was $31,275,000. The debt capacity remaining for the district is 72.8%.
The board also received the results of the School Perceptions Staff Survey. Ninety-nine percent or 219 responded to the survey. According to those who responded, there was an increase in the number who feel that the district is effective in teaching and supporting students; that they have the support needed to help educate students; and that both students and staff are accepted, respected, and supported at school. However, there was a drop in those that feel they like working at the school because they feel valued, heard, and can contribute. It was not a big drop however, it was just a .03% drop.
In action items at last night’s meeting the Richland School District Board approved a motion for three open enrollments IN applications and two open enrollments OUT applications for the current school year; and a change in the fiscal agent of the Drug Free Communities Grant to The Richland Hospital.
