
SPRING GREEN, WIS. (WRCO / WRCE) – River Valley won 67-47 over Riverdale in Tuesday night girls basketball. The Blackhawks were up 35-25 at halftime before extending the lead to 20 and maintaining the advantage the rest of the way. The Chieftains struggled with out side shooting and River Valley protected the inside with Junior Ella Myers providing multiple blocked shots. Bella DeViney had 19 points, Brooklyn Stokes added 13 and Myers scored 10. The Blackhawks also got scoring from Kalia Blakley with 8, Rosie Spahn had 5, Brooklyn White and Elizabeth Gostomski each had 4, and Heidi Hegland scored 2. River Valley made 5 three pointers and shot 4 for 12 from the free throw line.
Riverdale fell to 3-2 on the young season. They were led in scoring by Macy McKay who had a game high 24, Bailey Harris scored 8, Haley Schneider, Kaityn Miess each had 4, Millie Schneider and Mallory Miess both scored 2, and Megan Kruel added 1 point. The Chieftains did not make a 3 point basket and went 19 for 37 from the free throw line.
The Chieftains won the JV game 40-26 over visiting River Valley.
Following the 67-47 win, River Valley is now 3-1. They will open conference play at Prairie du Chien on Friday. Riverdale will play its second SWAL game of the season when they trek to Southwestern on Friday night.
