
SPRING GREEN, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – River Valley swept Richland Center in high school girls volleyball. The scores were 25-22, 25-21, and 25-18. The win for the Blackhawks avenged a 5 set loss to the Hornets earlier in the season.
Junior Ella Myers led the visitors with 3 kills and a block in the first set and 9 kills for the match. Trailing 7-0 in the second set, River Valley came back to take the lead for the first time at 15-14 and they went on for the win. They also trailed early in the 3rd set. They took their first lead at 16-15 and had key plays down the stretch including back to back aces from Junior Brooklyn Stokes.
Richland Center Senior Danica Pauls had 5 kills and 2 aces in the opener. Junior Ellavy Weiss had a good night at the net for the Hornets with 8 kills and 2 blocks.
River Valley swept the JV 1 match and won the JV 2 match 2 sets to 1.
Following the 3 set Varsity win, The Blackhawks will finish up the regular season with a match against Dodgeville. Richland Center will host Lancaster on the final night of the conference season. The WIAA volleyball tournament will begin as early as next Tuesday.
In other conference action last night, Platteville edged Dodgeville 3 sets to 2. With the win, the Hillman have won the SWC title outright.
