Wednesday U.S. Senator Ron Johnson released his report on the federal budget. He contends that Congress, the Administration, and the public at large have not fully acknowledged the depth of the fiscal hole that’s been created and what it will take to dig out of it.

He says first we have to admit there is a problem, and the second step is defining it clearly. The federal lawmaker from Oshkosh says mass panic during the pandemic resulted in a spending increase of $2.1 trillion in Fiscal Year 2020.

He says President Biden and congressional Democrats kept the spending spree going during the next four years, resulting in deficits averaging $1.9 trillion, sparking forty-year high inflation.

Johnson says unless we return to a much lower pre-pandemic spending level, there is virtually no hope of achieving a balanced budget. He’s hoping Republicans are willing to address the spending problem.
