Here is a recap of the Division 3 Wisconsin Dells WIAA half Sectional.
River Valley passed the first test of the tournament with a 70-38 win over visiting Prairie du Chien. The game was close in the first half with the host Blackhawks holding a 29-23 halftime lead. In the 2nd half, River Valley went on a 28-0 run and took a big advantage on the way to the victory.
Lucas Klein led all scorers with 19 (16 in the 2nd half), Keegan Heiser had 16 points, Caleb Drachenburg and Sumner Nachreiner each had 8, Brady Favreau scored 6, Jackson Thatcher added 5, Hughson Thatcher and Quincy Blakely each had 3, Kaden Plumley scored 2 points. The Hawks were 16 for 21 from the free throw line.
Prairie du Chien was led by Garrett Dehart with 10 points. The team was 6 for 11. With the loss, Prairie lost their 25th game without a win on the season.
River Valley is now 13-12 on the season and will now play at 4th seed New Glarus on Friday night.
Richland Center, a 9th seed, won 61-57 at 8th seeded Evansville. The game was close and tied several times before the Hornet were able to score the last points of the game. Richland Center is now 13-12 and will rematch with number one seed Platteville on Friday night on the road.
The sixth seed Dodgeville Dodgers held off 11th seed Mauston, 69-63 on Tuesday night. The Dodgers will play at Lodi (a 3 seed).
Number 7 Brodhead won against 10th seed Viroqua 86-63. Brodhead will play at Wisconsin Dells on Friday night in the WIAA Regional semi-final.
