LA CROSSE, Wis. (WCFW) – The 2023 WIAA State Track and Field Championship begins Friday at UW-La Crosse.
The event, which has been held in La Crosse since 1990, is expected to draw over 20,000 attendees in addition to hundreds of student-athletes and coaches from across Wisconsin.
The state meet has averaged well over 15,000 annual spectators since being hosted in La Crosse. Last summer, the WIAA and UW-La Crosse signed an agreement to keep the event in La Crosse through 2026.
First events in the championship begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, with the final events to be held Saturday. The main venues for the meet will be Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex and Mitchell Hall. New for 2023, the recently-renovated Field House will also host some events in the event of rainy weather.
You can follow all of the action on the WIAA’s website, where results will be posted throughout the event. A live stream is also being produced for the championships.
